Essay 01
The chip makes the key.
A private key for cryptocurrency is a secret. On Aurora Root that secret is born under the violet shell, not in a file on a laptop.
Setup asks the chip to create the key. The screen on the computer, if one is attached, can show that setup is underway. It cannot show the key. When the chip is finished, the key remains on the rail.
The PIN that guards everyday use is entered on the rail as well. You turn the silver dial to change a digit and press it to accept. The square key steps backward. A keyboard on the desk is the wrong tool for that step, because a keyboard can be watched by the computer it is plugged into.
If the rail is lost, the key on that particular chip is gone with it. What remains is the paper written during setup. That is a different essay. This one stops at the chip: it creates the key, it refuses to export it, and it will not sign until the dial is pressed on a line it drew itself.
